David A. Stith and James Wooten cleaning out the acid trap in the basement at the Grandview office building. The laboratory sinks at Grandview hooked into a tank full of limestone before connecting with the city sewer system. The idea was that the acids flushed into the sinks would wash through the limestone and be converted and trapped from entering the sewer system. The sinks for washing drilling samples also connected to the acid trap system. The sediment from the wash stations had clogged the trap and had to be cleaned. The limestone was removed so that Dave and Jim could remove the sediment goo from the trap. The image was taken in 1969. The Ohio Geological Survey's core repository was located at 1500 Dublin Road, Columbus, Ohio 43215 until 1984.
