REVIEW
Information comes from: Investigation of the Deep Coal Resources of Portions of Belmont, Guernsey, Monroe, Noble, and Washington Counties, Ohio (Ohio Geological Survey, Report of Investigations 116, 1980).
The Deep Core project was funded in part by a grant (Contract No. 77-10) from the Ohio Department of Energy. Each core hole was projected to penetrate to the greatest depth at which coal could theoretically be found in Ohio (i.e. through the entire Pennsylvanian System).
