Overlook Falls of the Stillwater River at West Milton, Miami County, Ohio. Overlook Falls is fed by Milton Ditch. Milton Ditch collects storm water during rain events and is also fed from spring water. The spring seems to originate on the old Lowry Farm property, which in 2016 was home to the Milton Union School complex and Lowery Fields ball diamonds on the western edge of West Milton. The spring's flow becomes subterranean until showing up as a surface water flow channelized in road-side open concrete culvert structures shortly before tumbling over the limestone cliff that creates the Overlook Falls. The area has limestone, shale and dolomite lithologies. Bedrock is from the Silurian Geologic Period. The image received second place in the 1986 Ohio Geology Slide Contest.
The information above is taken from an email exchange between Lisa F. Long and Richard Wagar, Special Projects Coordinator for the Miami County Engineer's Office, on 11 July 2016.
