An outcrop of the Middle Kittanning (No. 6) coal of the Allegheny Group at the old Congo Coal and Mining Company operation area near Congo in Monroe Township, Perry County, Ohio. This area has shale, siltstone, sandstone, conglomerate, limestone, coal, clay and flint lithologies. Bedrock is from the Pennsylvanian Geologic Period. The area was visited by Horace R. Collins and David K. Webb when the photograph was taken in April 1969.
