The Maumee River rapids caused by the Bowling Green Fault at Waterville, Lucas County, Ohio. The Lima and Toledo Traction Company Bridge at Roche de Boeuf is shown in the picture taken by Lawrence H. Wickstrom in September 1984. One of the piers of the bridge rests on the Roche de Boeuf, which is an outcrop of Tymochtee Dolomite of the Silurian Geologic Period. When the bridge was built in 1907, it was claimed to be the second-longest reinforced-concrete railroad bridge in the world. Roche de Boeuf was named by French fur traders who came to the Maumee Valley in the 1700s.
