Name/Title
S21.03.004Description
A small stream anticline in the Bedford Shale, in Stebbins Gulch in Holden Arboretum, Geauga County, Ohio. The siltstone and shale layers of the Bedford Shale ruptured parallel to the streambed, creating a ridge about 20 feet long and 10 inches high. The upwarp formed within a three week period, but movement probably occurred quickly. Bedrock is from the Devonian Geologic Period. The image was taken by Tom Yates, a naturalist at Holden Arboretum, in June 1978.
