A concretion in the shale outcrop at Copperas Mountain near Bainbridge in Ross County, Ohio. Growth of this concretion during shale bed deposition deformed the Ohio Shale. Unit lithology in this area is Ohio Shale overlain by Bedford Shale and Berea Sandstone. Bedrock is from the Devonian Geologic Period. The photograph was taken in 1986.
