An outcrop of the Bedford Shale and Berea Sandstone overlaying the Ohio Shale on the northwest side of United States Highway 23 south of Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio. Unit lithology in this area is shale, siltstone, and sandstone. Bedrock is from the Devonian Geologic Period. The photograph was taken in 1973.
