An outcrop of the Bedford Shale and the Berea Sandstone on the east side of United States Highway 23 north of Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio. Unit lithology in this area is shale, siltstone, and sandstone. Bedrock is from the Devonian Geologic Period. The photograph was taken by Michael C. Hansen in 1979.
