An outcrop with coal balls in the Ames limestone of the Conemaugh Group along United States Highway 22 west of Wintersville in Wayne Township, Jefferson County, Ohio. This area has shale, siltstone, mudstone, sandstone, limestone and coal lithologies. Bedrock is from the Pennsylvanian Geologic Period. This image was taken by Michael C. Hansen in 1975.
