An outcrop showing Anderson coal overlain by Portersville shale and limestone overlain by Cow Run sandstone of the Conemaugh Group located behind the former site of the Red Head Service Station at 493-495 Richland Avenue in Athens, Athens County, Ohio. This area has shale, siltstone, mudstone, sandstone, limestone and coal lithologies. Bedrock is from the Pennsylvanian Geologic Period. The image was taken by Michael C. Hansen in 1973.
