An outcrop of the Portersville shale of the Conemaugh Group in the southwest 1/4 of the southeast 1/4 of section 24, Bloom Township, Noble County, Ohio. This area has shale, siltstone, mudstone, sandstone, limestone and coal lithologies. Bedrock is from the Pennsylvanian Geologic Period. The image was taken by Michael C. Hansen in 1973 during an Ohio University field trip.
