An outcrop showing the Connellsville sandstone of the Conemaugh Group at the new highway cut probably for the United States Highway 33 bypass on the northeast side of Athens, Athens County, Ohio. This area has shale, siltstone, mudstone, sandstone, limestone and coal lithologies. Bedrock is from the Pennsylvanian Geologic Period. The photograph was taken in 1970.
