Red beds in an outcrop of the Benwood limestone horizon of the Monongahela Group along Interstate 77 at mile marker 15 south of Macksburg, Aurelius Township, Washington County, Ohio. This area has shale, siltstone, mudstone, sandstone, limestone and coal lithologies. Bedrock is from the Pennsylvanian Geologic Period. The photograph was taken by Michael C. Hansen in 1981.
