Description

The original mural, measuring roughly 7 x 6 meters and reproduced here by a staff artist, was found in a gaming room in the villa of Kai Preiden. It depicts a male orant celebrant standing in a temple door. The posts support decorative arches of phallic outline, an architectural feature typical of temples of phallic worship in the latter part of the Decline. On the wall adjacent to this mural was painted a prayer translated by Sir Adrian Hartley Cruickshank.
