Description

This is an expedition artist facsimile of a wall painting. Professor Schilaneder sees in this mural copy, evidence of the occasional archaism of the Middle Period (<em>Lebende Symbole,</em>p. 84). While the artist here has reverted to the traditional image of the stilt-walker the use of illusionistic devices of foreshortening and tonal gradations is typical of the latter part of the Middle Period.
