Solar Synchronous Temple Clock

SOLAR SYNCHRONOUS TEMPLE CLOCK | circa 1966-71 | Photo by Ann Cady, 2024 | ©2026 Norman Daly Art: The photo shows a solar clock features a round wooden disc in the center of which is mounted a rectangular perforated metal flat piece which resembles a modern day cheese grater. A crude humanoid clay figure is attached, its simple form suggesting arms, legs, and breasts, and holding something over its oval-shaped head; the contrast between the rough wood, the industrial metal texture and the organic earthen form creates an intriguing visual interplay. The clock is set against a neutral gray background.
