GS: Advert, 1991Scope and Content
Layout for an advert (possibly late 1991 or early 1992). This may have been printed in the book pages of the Sunday Observer, which was an excellent source of members for some years. However, it looks much too big for that - it would have been extremely expensive.
Some other national publications used at the time: the Guardian, the Times Literary Supplement (infrequently), and The London Review of Books (very seldom).
NB: The account manager for the book pages at the Observer in the early 1990s was Mary Geraldine O’Donnell, who was the most vivid and unforgettable character. Titian red hair and a black cloak.
