Description

Saddlebag used by Dr. John Elder Sr. in late 1800's (first jackson county dentist). Carried dental tools of the trade. Dark brown embossed looking flowers on 2 square bags with smooth leather lid that buckles on either side. Closure strap is broken on one side. Leather has turned very dark. Elder was town dentist for 50 years and mayor in 1922. 16 Nov 1879-19 Feb 1957. Katherine was his sister (1886-1963). Spring 1878 jc elder - dentist advertised in jackson county news
