Description

Wood paddles with fine wire teeth on one side to card wool. Label: Brought from Maryland by covered wagon by Margaret Johnson (age 12) and her parents in the 1800's. Pencilled on the back of one" Grate [great] grandmother Rhodes, F[unintelligible] cards more than 100 years old" margaret johnson 1819-1869 m. john pringle 1799-1885 daughter of joseph and nancy rhodes johnson. great-great granddaughter: Madeline Crum Margaret was born in WV but Nancy Rhodes was born in Maryland in 1798. she is likely the one who crossed the mountains in a covered wagon, circa 1810.
