Blue-gray glazed round Cantonware ceramic vessel - has darker blue edging on top of jar with darker blue painted Asian landscape scene. Including a fisherman in a small boat and a house with fields and a man fishing. Used for storing ginger and other spices, frequently mistaken as a cookie jar from the Fitzhugh family, or the bart fleming home. JFP was BF's daughter Originally, ginger jars were used for storing and transporting spices in Ancient China. They were used as containers for salt, oil but also rarer spices such as ginger, hence the name they got when they began entering the Western world.
