Enlarged photo of Judge Robert Shelley Brown (April 6, 1828 - Feb. 16 1891), colored with a pastel chalk. He wears a burgundy jacket with large lapels, and a long grey beard with whiter fray on the sides of his head. He has a green background. Original photo was also used to create a copper plate etching of his portrait, for book printing.
