Description

Peter Rhodes (1807-1922) owned this Flax Hackle. Flax is a fiber used to make linen fabric and this was needed to comb out the flax before it was spun into thread. It is a piece of wood with metal over the center, except about 2'' at each end, the ends have a piece of metal at the center. There are no metal spikes in the center that are the comb. At one end a nail is in the metal all the metal has been nailed on to the wood.
