Description

Knife inside of 2 sheath top is army green/canvas with very hard leather tip - 2nd sheath is tanned animal hide - handle of knife is wooden - glade steel and intact - black History: The wartime model 1917 is first contractor made version of the arsenal made model 1910. Used to clear brush and saplings in the field first issued to Medical Personnel. Label, possibly associated: This type of knife (machete) was used by horse soldiers to cut barb wire fences while trying to capture a bandit named Pancho Villa. The knife was owned by Charles A. Shepherd and owned (loaned) by his son Franklin D. Shepherd.
