Description

The iron has a flat bottom with an oval-like shaped base. One handle is attached to the base with nails and the second handle is attached by screws on the sides of the base. It is overlapping the bottom portion of the first handle. The middle the second handle is wrapped in cloth and string. The first handle has a wooden center attached to the iron portion of the handle, with a nail on one side and a screw on the other side. There is adhesive tape on the bottom ("189") and a black tone handle. top "hood" separates from bottom base, originally had insulating lining now absent. originally called "asbestos" iron for asbestos lining designed to insulate and keep it hot longer. lining now absent. It is missing trivet mentioned in the Historical Society Records.
