Description

It is a cardboard box with 12 drawers for catalogue cards, used at the Ravenswood Wholesale Grocery Co under the management of Darrell Rector. There are label inserts and drawer pull loops on the front of each drawer. It is covered in red printed fabric, and the front is then painted with matte black. Current labels are modern editions by the later owner. The sides of the drawers are covered in black speckled paper. According to the seller, (Becky's garage sale), the red fabric was added by the most recent owner. There is no apparent evidence of surface finish underneath. This leads me to believe it is original. Owner Belinda Chambers said: "Granddad ran it during the Depression. [Because they owned the grocery store] they didn't suffer as much."
