Description

2 story building with an exposed basement. 2 men standing in front of building. Lady sitting on the wall next door into basement. Train car visible just off to the right. Mill located just north of later St Dennis mill, seems to be original mill at site (see photo attachments for reference). was likely the grist mill erected in the 60s that was purchased and operated by judge Robert S brown around 1870. Daniel Boone, a Black man, was Miller, and Randolph Miller was engineer. This mill was later purchased by mark Sayre in 1883 and completely remodeled, installing the roller process, a new system for making flour. this upgraded system became known as St Dennis Mills, and this old building was eventually demolished as st dennis built new buildings and expanded the business.
