Theme: Day of the Dead. We built pieces for our art car and also painted it. We are still in the works since this is our first art car we are learning together!
"Ortize MS art teacher, Estrada grew up in the Heights and saw Art Cars around her neighborhood. Turned out she lived next door to Tom Kennedy. Her dad was a bodyshop man, so she was interested in the way cars were painted and wanted to emulate that as a child. Her dad was not a fan but didn't stop her. When she learned more and more about art car culture growing up, she always wanted to be involved in one. She finally scored a car for her school and is ready to help the students achieve their own vision and have fun doing it!
The students presented different designs and they chose tthe Day of the Dead theme. They have a growing Mariachi Program and want to honor our culture and show the world how Beautiful it is!"
