Our concept for this year’s car is “A Thousand Paper Cranes”—inspired by a story about a girl who makes a thousand paper cranes to wish on to help cure her cancer. We plan to turn our car into a giant “paper” crane using a box iron skeleton and corrugated plastic. Covering the entire vehicle will be about a thousand miniature paper origami cranes.
Bellaire Art Car Club is a student-run and led club at Bellaire High School dedicated to the craft of the Art Car. We've since returned after a 20-year hiatus, and we're coming back bigger, better, and bird-like to represent hope and healing for people with cancer with the inspirational tale of "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes." What we are most excited about for Art Car Week is being a part of the Art Car Parade on Saturday and seeing other creations from people in the Art Car Community!
