We purchased a 1993 white Mercedes station wagon and cut the back part off to add additional seating for kids to ride in the car during the parade. We are inspired by our school- The Fay School which backs up to the Buffalo Bayou. An amazing place to learn by exploring through nature on their 8.5 acres of property. We have chickens, gardens, and our mascot is an alligator!
Katherine has been an art teacher for over two decades at Fay and a longtime Houstonian. Taking inspiration from the art car parade, Katherine submitted a proposal to purchase a car and have it modified and decorated for the parade with the car's design and production managed as a student project. Her proposal was chosen as the recipient of the 2023 Gena Lewis award for excellence in teaching which provided funding for the project. Now our gator mobile is prominently displayed on campus as a source of pride for the entire school community.
