Our son Tobin, passed away from a brain tumor in 2017, when he was 20 years old. Before he left us, he started a nonprofit helping families whose children are fighting cancer with their travel expenses. He knew he wouldn't be here long, and wanted to make a difference now. The little Brat was my college car, and we had kept her for all these years because she just kept going. We decided to make her the Artcar she was always meant to be. Tobin never really got to see her in her full glory, but he told us what he wanted us to do, and with the help of many of Tobin's friends, here she is!
Our entry is a little 1979 Subaru Brat. She's painted various shades of green, because that was our son, Tobin's, favorite color. She has a spray foam insulation giant octopus whose eyes light up on the hood, because that was Tobin's favorite animal. It has an enormous blinking brain on top (17 cans of spray foam insulation) to represent Tobin's battle with brain cancer. Like all Artcars, she's always a work in progress. Once you start putting glitter on things, it's hard to stop!
