Originally built by Tom Kennedy, Cheerio, the hippo car, is a 2007 Toyota RAV4. She has had a face and butt lifts by Isaac Cohen, and cataract surgery by Richard Carter. The eyes wink, the ears wiggle, the tail wags and she pees. With her infectious personality, Cheerio makes people smile every day as she cruises Houston's roadways.
I am known as the hippo lady since I have a collection of around 2000 hippos decorating my home. I've even been on the Weird Homes tour for four years. I attended the art car parade from the very beginning and I knew one day I would have one. When the Toyota RAV4 came out it had enough of a look of a hippo I decedid it was time for me to be in the parade instead of a spectator. What a ride it has been!!!
