"The Absurd Automobile of Anti-Bourgeois Amusement was inspired by childhood games with the addition of satirical twists. Conceived by the character Dame Dada (Nichole Hamilton) and aided by skilled visual artists Jim Billings and Heidi Frohnapfel-Corkran of New Mexico, the Absurd Automobile comes with game pieces and is played by anyone who wants some whimsy, free of charge and free of rules. Materials: One Shot paint, E-6000 glue, Dada inspired assemblages created with found objects.
Statement of mission: The Absurd Automobile of Anti-Bourgeois Amusement has no purpose has no point such as life. Da Da Da Da. Experiment Exploration Engagement in silliness and satire. A moment to break from mundane may make meaning. Whimsy. Da Da Da Da."
"Nichole Hamilton (Dame Dada) is an Associate Professor of Theatre Arts at New Mexico State University whose research interests include performing and directing new works, farce, satire, and exploring devised and experimental forms of theatre. Nichole has been performing Dame Dada since 2014 and was compelled to create this large prop that can be used theatrically wherever she travels. Camping with Art Car Camp at Burning Man, she was consistently inspired by friends' imagination manifested into an motion. After a few years of daydreaming, she created this as an homage to Dadaism, participation, and play.
I am most excited to meet new people, experience the creative energy, and witness the unique expressions in moving art."
