That Car #4 is the 4th in a series of daily drivers starting in 1999. The mandalas on the hood are made from glass tiles, mirrors, jewels, bones, and beads. Trim is made from 1000's of mirrors, skulls, and more beads, creating a mirrorball effect while driving. The dashboard features a mini parade and sentimental pieces transferred from prior editions of That Car. #DaveTheSkeleton waves to everyone from the passenger seat, while topping it off is a set of Texas sized long horns, both gifts from a fellow artcar friends.
I created a summer long temporary and interactive artcar project in 1997 & 1998 called the Summer Artcar #1 & #2. I exhibited at children's festivals and schools as they added vinyl decals to the design. I bartered for sponsors and passed out 1000's of flyers advertising artcars and the project. In 1999, I met Ramona Moon who introduced me to the concept of gluing on your car, That Car(s) were born!. I am a founding member of the Columbus Artcar Resource Society (CARS) and volunteer for the artcar exhibit at Hot Times Community Music and Arts Festival, welcoming artcars from across the country since 1997. I continue to bring artcars to the classroom and communtiy through passion, persistance, publicity, and grants.
