159, Painted Car, Lovely Intoxication, Briah Gober / JT Pit CrewTags
2024, ***Description
This piece was created using my usual pouring style. In order to pour paint on the car, I had the doors, the hood and the tuck removed so that I could tangibly hold and move the pieces in order to drip paint on those. After drying, the pieces were installed back on the car. I then used aerosol to spray paint the piece that weren’t able to be dripped in order to make a seamless transition. I used liquid Rustoleum for the dripping and canned aerosol Rustoleum for the spray painted pieces.
My name is Briah Gober. I am an artist born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. This project was actually inspired by Art 120 and Kate Warren. Kate Warren has been attending Art Car Week for years now and has made an effort to share some of the amazing things that happens in Houston, with us here in Chattanooga. Kate Warren was donated a car and she asked me if I had any interest in painting it. Oddly enough, painting a car had been a dream of mine for years! I jumped on it instantly, before even knowing how I would actually paint it. The process took lots of trial and error, but the end resultis what I was going for, which was to paint the car in my signature drip style. I’m beyond excited for Art Car Week just to see what is out there and to see creative works and to meet other artists doing big things in the big city! I’ve also never been to Houston so I’m just beyond excited to see all of it.
