The shadow of neglect and vandalism had taken a toll on Tim Young’s Sunflower Art Car.
Joe Haden over 6 months rebuilt everything, including the customized steering and controls of brakes, accelerator, engine, fuel and cooling systems as well as rewiring it. Joe Haden would repeat this mantra to himself as the long months of restoration continued, “Soon we will have a proper art car suited for many more years of Sunflower mobility.”"
Restoring the iconic Sunflower Art Car, once piloted by the legendary Tim Young, became a kaleidoscopic journey and tested Joe Haden’s resolve repeatedly. The seasoned mechanic with a knack for creative problem-solving, tackled rusty challenges as a daily meal with a belly laugh as everything mechanically was completely rebuilt. Clytie, the Water Goddess and flamboyant artist, revived the art car back into a floral masterpiece once again, each petal whispering stories of Tim's vibrant spirit. Apollo, the Sun God and tech wizard, added solar-powered lights, making the sunflower glow day and night. As wrenches and brushes collided, the trio resurrected Tim's legacy, blending laughter, good music, determination, and a sunflower-powered tribute that is back for cruising the streets with a burst of living art.
