Description

The Splitting C-ar-tolithophore is named for its car-ness, its art, and the fact that it is a coccolithophore mid-split. In other words, it’s reproducing!! This is a representation of a single celled microscopic organism called a coccolithophore. They reproduce asexually by splitting and remaking coccoliths. This car was built to magnify those tiny gorgeous creatures so everyone can appreciate their beauty. We will float down Allen Parkway as we split, photosynthesizing all the way. The car is painted coccolith by coccolith of the species Emiliania huxleyi in white against the seawater with green chlorophyll showing through. The trailer is a collage of the same.
