"While visiting Xochimilco in Mexico City, I was inspired by the flat bottom canal boats and the flowers grown there. During my visiting I thought about my grandmother, Consuelo (Connie), who loved to go fishing and gardening. She was a flower judge for many years, and never stopped gardening. If she was still alive today, I would love to take her on a boat tour of Xochimilco to visit the gardens.
I have been using her Plymouth minivan as an art car for many years and wanted to redesign and repurpose it into something new. I have added more bright colors and her name to the top of the van to mimic the boats found in the canals of Xochimilco."
