Wilchester Elementary 5th grade artists, from Spring Branch ISD, are "moving mountains", making strides and leaving their marks on the world around them each and every day! This year's school theme was a camping theme with "Adventure Awaits" as their motto. 5th graders work together for about two weeks on this car during their regular art class with every 5th grader getting to participate. This year they have tied their art car painting with the camping theme. Their Art teacher, Mrs. Walton, has sponsored a car in the parade since 2013 and this particular car has about 7 layers of paint on it! Riding in the car are 3 of her 5th grade artists who won their spots through a drawing! So fun!
As an SBISD Art teacher, giving my elementary students the opportunity to compete with the "big kids" is a big deal. Giving my kids the opportunity to showcase that their art matters and makes a difference is a lifelong goal. These kids learn skills in art class from pre-k through 5th grade with me and this gives them the opportunity to share their art with others. I couldn't be more proud to do this with them each and every year!
