2024, ##Description
Earlier in the school year, many of our Art Club members participated in a beach clean up. Students enjoyed the opportunity to engage in our community and tackle a large environmental problem in a small but real and physical way. Inspired by this event, they decided to make an ocean-themed art car for this year's parade. Students chose to feature a large octopus made of styrofoam on top of the car because they appreciate the unique form and intelligence of this sea creature. Duct tape, spray paint, and paint pens helped students to complete their vision.
Eastwood Academy is a rigorous, STEM focused school. Art gives students an outlet to express themselves in a way that they might not get the chance to in their core classes. Art Club gives them the opportunity to do this in a low-stakes environment. Our process is built on trial and error and revision. We appreciate the opportunity to participate in a community wide art event where we can share our own art but also delight in the art of others.
