---- The theme of our art car is BTW Eagles In Full Bloom. It references the rich legacy of Booker T. Washington High School and The High School for Engineering Professions. It echos the beauty of our Visionary Statue Project and speaks to the flowering of the imagination.---- Creating an Art Car has been on my bucket list for a while. Teaching in a Title I school I feel requires that we help students to see beyond their current circumstances to envision themselves with the capacity to have and attain their dreams. Booker T. Washington was a great leader who challenged people to expand their thinking in terms of the realm of possibilities. He said "Success is not measured by the position one has reached , rather by the obstacles one overcomes while trying to succeed. Having lost our family home to a fire 2 years ago I understand full well what it means to receive "beauty for ashes." I strive each day to help my students see the beauty and infinite possibilities that abound when they give themselves permission to dream big. I am excited about cultivating mental gardens and awakening the imagination in others. I welcome the opportunity to become a part of a legacy that unleashes creativity and hope in our city and beyond. - Maya Imani Watson
