??Description
---- Our Houston Strong car is inspired by the community and strength we see amidst Houston’s stormiest seasons. With beaded stories of restoration, we hope to show boast and power in lifting others up during times of need. The car features aluminum skyscrapers with the “Be Yourself” bridge between the two, forming the shape of an “H” for H-town. Houston towers over the spinning hurricane beneath it on the trunk of the car, with ribbons naming every deadly hurricane that has hit our city since 1989. On the hood of the car is a boat that goes around the city, helping people in different scenes of the flooded Houston area. This showcases the first responders that dedicated weeks to aid in Houston’s recovery.---- We are a team of very passionate high school students from Bellaire! Although we all have different interests (robotics, soccer, swim, debate, etc.), all of us have been impacted by the natural disasters of Houston — namely hurricanes and especially hurricane Harvey from 2017. Many of us had to move temporarily, host family and friends, or rebuild our homes. Whether it be a hurricane snowstorm in our home town or fires across the country, we want to encourage and inspire others to give when possible and thank the people who work to keep our communities intact. This year, we are most excited about the Art Car Sneak Peek. Not only are we able to get to know and interact with other art car artists, but we can spread the story of our car’s theme. Also, the Art Car Sneak Peek is one of the few events with low-lighting as the sun sets. During the nighttime, the LEDs inside of the ‘H’ building will shine through the windows and truly make the entire car come alive.
