Description

---- My Dad, Ken Pike, and I built this cartoon style dinosaur to entertain my grandkids. We used a Paper Maché style technique. The base is PVC bent into circles to provide support. A chicken wire sculpture is built around it. On the top is wool fabric dipped in tinted house paint and secured with zip ties. There is over 18 gallons of blue paint on her. She is built on a 2” PVC pipe frame and can be removed from the car intact. Babe rests on a base in Brenham when we aren’t driving her around.---- I have always loved large art that can be viewed by the public without entering a museum or gallery. I particularly love art that inspires and entertains children. I have 12 grandchildren and I love when they roar at my dinosaur. When I found out a temporary art car was possible I got started. I didn’t have an extra car that could live full time as a piece of art so I created a sculpture that could move on and off my car
