+Description
---- HISD is under attack. The Arts, creative thinking, and joy belong in public education. We will not allow our community to be destroyed. We are fighting for it, one stitch at a time. Our yarn bombed car is made of crotchet, knit, pom- poms, and other yarn pieces. It represents hours of work by many yarn artists of all ages and skill levels. Some of our artists just learned to crochet and donated their first pieces to this project, while others have been crafting fiber arts for many years.---- Houston Stitching Together formed as a response to the hostile state takeover of HISD. We are parents, teachers, students, and community members from all over Houston, united to fight for our schools. We have watched Mike Miles and the appointed board of managers strip our schools of creativity and joy. We are here to bring it back. We have been crafting creative yarn displays throughout Houston to raise awareness about the real effects of the state takeover on our schools for almost a year now. The Art Car Parade is a unique, joyful , and creative Houston event. We can’t think of any place more fitting for us to display our work. We are having so much fun making an art car!
