artcar - 3rd 2016 - Brickmobile---- The Brickmobile is a1968 Ford Country Sedan covered in ceramic tile “bricks”. The station wagon is a monument to the nostalgia of car pools, V8 engines, and streets named Pleasant Valley. The car looks heavy and it is, however it is equipped with a 390 V8 and all the added weight equals only about 1000 pounds.---- In his studio practice Monroe uses common materials to create pieces as diverse as functional lamps, kinetic sculptures, fountains, waterfalls, and outdoor sculptural works. Artcars are a great “vehicle” for collaborative work. His large scale, site-specific installations have been exhibited at several Houston public venues including: Project Row Houses, The Glassell School, Lawndale Art Center, and DiverseWorks Art Space.
