Painted 1st - 2002/ art car -Honarable ment-2001---- In 2001 our art students, family and friends hand painted this vintage 1972 VW Van as a tribute to the life and work of Vincent VanGogh. The classic van is painted inside out with such iconic paintings such as "Starry Night", "The Potato Eaters" and "Crows over the Wheat Fields" all using water based acrylics! We call the van " Vincent's Dream" in honor of Vincent's passion for God, people and painting! When we drive the van around town folks always give us smiles, thumbs up and exclaim " Go VanGogh!"---- While teaching art classes in the late 1990s, we were seeking an avenue to take our students' art work to the public and decided the Houston Art Car Parade would be a great avenue. Over the years we created about 10 different vehicles with our students' ideas and inspiration. We have always enjoyed the excitement and attention of being a part of the world's largest Art Car Parade and it's always a joy to meet other folks with a similar passion to create!
