Artcar - 2nd - 2019---- Our ArtCar is a 1979 Subaru Brat. She was my college car. Our son, Tobin, was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was 11. We treated it, but it came back when he was 19, and when he realized he was not going to have time to do the things he'd hoped to do, he decided to start a non profit, helping families with children who are fighting cancer with their travel expenses. Tobin didnt get to see the car finished, but he told us what he wanted. Paint it all colors of green, his favorite color, a giant octopus on the hood, his favorite animal, and a giant brain on top complete with light up synapses, symboizing his battle with brain cancer, so that's what we did. The brain and octopus are made of maybe 20 cans of srpray foam insulation. Weve added lots of lights and glitter over the years, because once you start arting your car, ya just can't stop!---- I've had the little Brat since she was new, and to be honest, she was always a bit of an ArtCar. I have wanted to Art her up since i went to my first ArtCar parade, and finally did with inspiration from my son Tobin. Having been in the parade, and participated in ArtCar week for the past several years, i have to say every car and every artist inspires me! the creativity and fearlessness is a constant source of motivation. It's impossible to pick a favorite part of ArtCar week, but i know I am really looking forward to seeing all of the folks we havent seen since last year.
