Description

---- Hearsicorn is a juxtaposition of the macabre and the magical, designed to delight and perplex. Hearsicorn invites you to express yourself in all your uniqueness. Her motto is "You do you!" She is originally a 1993 hearse with upgraded fur replacement where the vinyl used to be. Her head and butt are made of a sturdy highway-worthy metal frame with plush fur skin. She stands at 11 feet tall and 25 feet long, to the tip of the tail. Her artist, Chandra Valkyrie, aims to normalize being the glorious, unique self we all are inside, as she leads by example. Chandra has clocked over 200 artist hours in the creation of Hearsicorn and she is grateful to be able to share her with the onlookers. Sometimes Chandra can be spotted in elation riding atop the majestic beast.---- Charlie Larson and the rest of the Tulsa ArtCar gang got me hooked when they allowed me to drive one of the ArtCars in a local parade about a decade ago. Experiencing the reactions from the crowd was so much fun, so I had to make my own. I already had an ArtHouse which is a submersive experience in itself, and so I was enticed by the idea of making a mobile are piece I could drive. I love the macabre and I've always loved unicorns, so I merged the two together for a perplexing delight for onlookers. Riding in Hearsicorn and getting to see all the happy, confused, and joyous reactions is exhilarating. I love sharing her. I am most excited about ArtCar week to get to see all the other creations that the artists have conjured up, and to get to hang out with all the like-minded awesome weirdo artists like myself.
