Description

artcar -1st - 2024 for CarPet/ contraption 1st -2013,2003/ 2nd 2005/ 3rd 2004,2018, 2015) ---- Did you ever watch a Japanese monster movie and think " Wow the creature looks like it's made out of funky carpet"? Car-Pet was inspired by those same Japanese monster movies from the 1970's. Built by George and Lisa Sacaris, Car-Pet is made entirely from shag carpet and Liquid Nails. Built on a 2005 Honda Civic that the neighbor was giving away, the car was carefully covered with 3 colors of carpet and then painted into. It also features moving eyes and sprays poisonous venom. Car-Pet was a first place winner in 2024.---- My day job is designing and building metal work for homes and businesses and includes furniture, lighting, and architectural details like stairs and doors. My wife Lisa's day job is dying and painting textiles for ballet and opera companies across the U.S. My daughter Gia is a Junior in high school and is an artist in her own right creating patches, graffiti, and punk rock music. We love the Artcar Parade because it brings pure joy to the thousands who come out to watch and in turn to the hundreds who roll in the parade. It is an all around positive experience and definitely the happiest day of the year in Houston.
