Painted Car - 3rd - 2015(P40-S10)---- It’s a 99 Chevy Silverado that was headed to the burn yard at the local fire department. I was able to save it from its fiery death and turn it into the brightest work truck ever. The truck was painted 7 times consecutively, base white, neon yellow, neon orange, neon red, neon pink, purple, blue/cyan, then a neon retro stripe job was added on top of the blue. In total it took over 150 cans of spray paint to complete. Then I spent 6 months sanding back down through all the layers of paint to reveal what I call a “Jawbreaker Patina” paint job. Then it was covered in two coats of Sour Lava super shift pearl and followed up with 6 more coats of urethane clear coat. In total it took 14 months and around 500 hours to complete the body work and paint job from start to finish. It is now my daily driver work truck!! I also did a full front end swap from a 1500 to a 2500HD. It also glows in black light!! The truck is lowered with chrome wheels and a hand crank air raid siren. With a trailer decorated to match.---- I am a local self employed mural artist, metal fabricator, sculptor and paint vehicles from time to time. I’m a huge car enthusiast and outdoorsman, but most of all I love spending time with my family. My little 3 year old daughter helped me with the truck and when she is old enough to drive it will one day be hers. I always have a tendency to paint just about everything I own and this truck was no different. It was a fun little project that got way out of hand, but it was 100% worth it. Honestly the thing I’m most excited about for the art car parade is bringing my daughter, family, friends, and neighbors out to get the full Houston art car experience. For a lot of them this will be their first time attending and I can’t wait to see their reaction and make memories!!
